Residents of Maili Nne Protest Poor Road Conditions, Demand Urgent Repairs

Residents of Maili Nne on the outskirts of Eldoret in Uasin-Gishu County have staged a protest to express their frustration over the poor condition of the Fly-Over road leading to Kiplombe. They claim the ongoing heavy rains have exacerbated the situation, severely disrupting transportation.
In a display of their anger, the residents planted banana trees and maize on the road.
The protesters stated that their complaints have gone unheard, as the ward representatives of Kiplombe and Kapsaos have distanced themselves, claiming the road is not under their jurisdiction.
Furthermore, the residents, joined by boda boda operators, redirected their protest to the Amana road leading to Kiplombe, decrying its deplorable condition.
They also blamed the contractor who repaired the road for substandard work, saying, “This road has been repaired numerous times and has become a cash cow.”
Many expressed the losses they incur while using the road for travel or transporting their produce.
The residents have vowed to continue their protests until the road is properly repaired.
