The North Rift  Inter-religious council  has stated that there is a need for the government  to engage with the opposition in order to restore tranquility in the country following the  deaths and destruction of  property witnessed in the county  due  to mass protests.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, the North Rift  Interfaith Chairperson, Rev Geoffrey Songok, said that the tension currently being experienced in the country could lead to violence, hence the need for dialogue.

The Leaders have blamed political hardliners surrounding the president  and Azimio Leader  Raila Odinga for failed  bi-partisan talks

“We would like the government and the opposition to resume the bi-partisan talks , the talks should also engage  the  religious leaders over  critical issues  raised by the opposition. Said  Sheikh Abubakar  Bini.
