Residents of Uasin Gishu County can finally breathe easier following the arrest of three suspected members of a notorious criminal gang and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.
Detectives arrested Titus Wainaina Njoroge, Jeremiah Njuguna Kinyanjui alias Chikudee, and Patrick Kinuthia Mwangi during a well-coordinated joint operation led by the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), with support from the Operations Unit at DCI Headquarters and officers based in Uasin Gishu. The assault rifle was discovered concealed in a thicket within the homestead of Njoroge.
Investigators believe the trio forms part of a ruthless gang that has been terrorising residents through armed robberies and other violent crimes across the county. Preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to several serious incidents, including a chilling attack on 22 November 2025, when a family was reportedly held hostage, robbed of their motor vehicle, and forced to transfer money from their mobile wallets.
Further inquiries have also connected the gang to a robbery with violence that culminated in the murder of Richard Rotich, a pharmacist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, on 7 January 2026. Detectives say the gang is known to operate using fraudulently acquired identities to evade detection.
Police records indicate that Titus Wainaina Njoroge, also known as Bikos, is a repeat offender with a long criminal history. He has previously been implicated in an attempted robbery reported at Eldoret Police Station in 2011, a robbery with violence case at Langas Police Station in 2017, an escape from lawful custody at Eldoret Police Station in 2012, and another escape from Eldoret Court in 2014.
The three suspects are currently being processed for arraignment in court as investigations continue. Detectives have intensified operations to track down and arrest other gang members who remain at large.
