The secretary general of central organization of trade union COTU Francis Atwoli ,has revealed that president Dr. William Ruto will continue to serve until 2032, saying as COTU secretary general he will continue cooperating with Ruto’s government.
Addressing mourners at the funeral of Henry Winston in Khwisero Constituency kakamega county, Atwoli said he has to work with the ruling government.
“I have been elected in Australia as the vice president of the international trade union confederation. in March next year I am going to be elected as the leader of the trade union in Africa in an election that will be held in Nigeria, and as a trade union leader i have to closely work with the ruling government so that i can represent the government and discuss issues of this Nation in International trade union meetings, and this I cannot achieve while being in the opposition” he said
“What I know is, I supported the leader of the opposition, Raila Odinga, but we were defeated by President William Ruto, despite all the support we had from the former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and now what we know is that even when it comes to the 2027 general election Ruto will still triumph over his political opponents ,”said Atwoli.

Atwoli added that he had to seek truce with President William Ruto through the leaders from western region including Prime cabinet Secretary , Musalia Mudavadi, speaker of the National assembly Moses Wetangula and Kakamega senator Dr, Boni Khalwale,
, “When I met the president at state house, we laughed a lot on a myriad of things , we shared a reminiscence of what I had stated earlier that Trees needed to have been cut in Sugoi , he reminded me of how he referred to me as “Mzee wa Manyororo’ the old man who put on chain necklaces , we laughed a lot” added Atwoli.
In addition, Atwoli has asked the leaders of the opposition to continue with their oversight role, saying the president encourages a vibrant opposition that will critique his administration as envisaged by the Constitution.
Atwoli has challenged Kenyans and especially the Youth to take up hustler loans and engage in economic empowerment projects .
At the Event Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has appealed to President Dr. William Ruto and the opposition leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga to resolve the impasse surrounding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
“The IEBC commission is a fragile institution that must be handled with caution if Kenyans are to believe in its independence even in the coming elections,” Said Savula.
Area Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka, asked all the elected leaders including members of the country assembly from Khwisero to realize political promises made to the people by working together to realize the much needed development.
