Police Probe Death of Newborn Found Dumped in Eldoret Forest

Police in Eldoret on Sunday launched investigations after the body of a one-day-old baby was discovered in a forest near the Block Ten area, opposite the new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) construction site.
According to residents, the infant’s body was spotted by passersby who quickly alerted local authorities. The area chief responded to the scene and later informed police officers, who retrieved the body and moved it to the MTRH mortuary.
Confirming the incident, the Block Ten area chief condemned the act, terming it inhumane and calling for swift investigations.
“This is a deeply disturbing and heartbreaking incident. We condemn it in the strongest terms and urge anyone with information to come forward and assist the police,” the chief said.
Police have since opened an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death and identify those responsible.
