Police in Turbo Subcounty, Uasin Gishu County have launched investigations following the discovery of a middle-aged woman’s body inside a locked house in the Kahoya area of Huruma Ward on Friday.
Residents reported that the woman was last seen on Tuesday evening entering the house of a man believed to be her acquaintance. According to neighbors, she had reportedly visited her boyfriend—who is said to be the son of the landlord of the premises—and the two were last seen together at around 8:00 p.m.
When residents noticed that the door had remained shut for two consecutive days, they grew increasingly concerned.
“When the house stayed locked for so long, we suspected something was wrong,” said one neighbor.
On Friday morning, neighbors forced the door open and were met with a grim scene: the woman lay unresponsive on a mattress inside the room.
“It was shocking. We broke in because we feared for her safety, only to find her body,” another resident recounted.
Police were called to the scene, where they documented the area before transferring the body to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary. Officers say the cause of death remains unclear and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine what happened.
