Over 2,000 Langas ward residents benefit from ‘Koti care’ free medical camp!

Over 2,000 residents of Langas Ward,Uasin Gishu Saturday benefited from a free medical camp organised by the county government of Uasin Gishu under the programme dubbed ‘Koti Care’.
The health programme brought together medical officers and specialists from both the private and public health facilities Including health experts from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Uasin Gishu County hospital,Reale Hospital among other health providers.
According to the County Clinical Services Chief Officer, Dr. Paul Wangwe Ongeti a majority of the Langas ward residents were diagnosed with eye problems as well as non-communicable diseases including diabetes.
“We had gynecologists , Ears, Nose and throat doctors (ENT) Dentists among other health experts who spent the entire day providing free medical care to the most vulnerable members of our society including the Elderly,and people with special needs” He stated.
Speaking during the launch, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, noted he was keen to implement his “Nguzo Kumi” manifesto where provision of quality and affordable healthcare to Uasin Gish citizenry was a top priority
“Under Kori care the very vulnerable members of our community and people with special needs will receive quality and affordable healthcare ,we have not only enhanced the infrastructural development of our over 100 health facilities but enhanced provision of specialized medical care” Opined the Governor.
The governor further revealed that under the “Koti Care” senior citizens and PWDs would be enrolled into the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to enable them to access healthcare services.
Dr.Wangwe said that the free medical camps would be undertaken in all the six sub-counties of Uasin Gishu,
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has revealed plans to build a multi-million level four Hospital at the County Hospital in order to meet the anticipated upsurge of clients after the conferment of Eldoret into a City,the new facility will drastically reduce referral cases to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
