The Kenya Rugby Union has reinforced the Kenya Lionesses technical bench with the appointment of Geoffrey Ominde as Assistant Coach.

Ominde, who is currently part of the coaching setup at Menengai Oilers, brings with him a rising profile in the coaching ranks and is widely regarded as one of the more tactically astute figures in the local game.

Since transitioning from his playing career, he has steadily built his credentials, highlighted by leading the Oilers to their maiden Kenya Cup final appearance last season. That run demonstrated his capacity to shape competitive teams and implement effective systems under pressure.

His arrival comes at a key moment for the Lionesses, who are preparing for the upcoming Africa Women’s Cup. The national side remains a strong force on the continent and will be aiming to build on that reputation.

In his new role, Ominde is expected to focus on strengthening team structure, improving in-game decision-making, and adding fresh tactical input to the squad.

The move also reflects a broader commitment by the union to enhance the standards and long-term development of women’s rugby in Kenya.
