Muslims in Mombasa mark Eid-ul-Fitr with calls for unity together with charity and compassion.
The celebrations in Mombasa displayed the spiritual importance of Eid while they promoted social responsibility together with the vision of achieving peace and compassion toward all people in every community.

Muslims in Mombasa together with Muslims from all over the nation observed Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday to complete the Holy Month of Ramadan. The celebration witnessed religious leaders together with community leaders who demonstrated the need for people to practice unity and forgiveness together with charitable acts while providing assistance to those who are less fortunate.
Kenya observed the government-initiated public holiday through special prayers which took place in mosques and open spaces throughout the nation. The Tononoka grounds ceremony included leaders who called on Kenyans to practice togetherness and mutual support while fostering national cohesion and responsible leadership, regardless of their religious or ethnic or political affiliations.
Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Hassan Ali Joho attended prayers at Masjid Ummu Kulthum. He thanked Allah for allowing the community to finish Ramadan without problems. He urged people to continue their charitable activities while reminding them to support orphans and widows and sick people and other vulnerable groups through charitable giving. CS Joho extended Eid greetings to all Muslims and urged Kenyans to prioritize unity above religious differences.
“Eid marks the end of Ramadan which provides a time for people to think about unity and charitable giving and the practice of forgiveness and helping others together with the responsibility to assist those in need who include orphans and widows and sick people. The day brings people together to show their love for one another.
At Tononoka grounds, Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir encouraged citizens to set aside political differences. He urged people to check on their neighbors while they should practice forgiveness and reconciliation.
The county supports its residents who face difficulties with unpaid bills through ongoing efforts which provide relief. Residents who experienced payment challenges received support when they were released from hospital detention under SHA regulations because of the Eid goodwill initiative.
The Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Aharub Khatri extended his Eid Mubarak wishes to Muslims and Christians while he requested God to accept the Ramadan fasts which Muslims observe during the fasting period. He encouraged Muslims to observe the additional six fasting days which occur after Eid because these fasts together with Ramadan fasting bring the equivalent spiritual benefits of a full year of fasting.
Sheikh Omar Buya expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to observe Eid while he reminded the community to visit and assist sick people and orphans and widows. He urged political leaders to stop using divisive language and insults while handling private data. Political leaders should only make statements which will create respect between people while promoting national unity.
