Murkomen Breaks Silence, Accuses Gachagua of Hate Campaign and Plot to Incite Violence

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of engaging in a hate campaign aimed at sowing division and inciting violence in the country.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his verified X account on Thursday, August 6, 2026, Murkomen said he has been following with concern and shock Gachagua’s public pronouncements and talks in recent days.
The CS described Gachagua’s daily political engagements as vitriolic and dangerous to national cohesion.
“I have been following with concern and shock Rigathi Gachagua’s public pronouncements and talks in recent days. His daily diatribe, interspersed with vitriol, misogyny, lies, ethnic jingoism and hate are carefully crafted to sow division, incite violence, extort and bully politicians to join his party and cement his imaginary status as a regional kingpin. A position that neither exists in the Constitution nor in our socio-cultural setups,” Murkomen said.
Murkomen said Gachagua’s rhetoric and activities are inconsistent with someone who once held a high constitutional office.
“His rhetoric and activities are inconsistent with someone who once held a high constitutional office leave alone a decent human being,” he added.
Murkomen accused the former Deputy President of using delegations visiting his rural home in Wamunyoro to attack him personally under the guise of criticizing security failures.
“Addressing delegations to his rural home, which he retreated to after his self-inflicted fall, he besmirches my name daily in the name of criticising security failures, while in the real sense, he is trying to divert my attention away from the clandestine criminal activities that he executes through his lieutenants,” the CS claimed.
The Interior CS further alleged that after failing to shake his resolve through direct attacks, Gachagua has now activated a network of political allies to advance his agenda.
“After realizing that his attacks were not enough to shake my resolve, he has now changed tack and activated his sleeper cell of political accomplices from Rift Valley to aid him in his nefarious plot,” Murkomen said.
He noted that it was no coincidence that Gachagua was amplifying what he termed as false accusations made against him by his co-conspirators in Parliament and public gatherings earlier in the week.
Murkomen dismissed Gachagua’s push for Mt Kenya kingpin status, describing it as idle.
“Kingpinship is a vacuous title and the sole preoccupation of idle minds,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to be vigilant and not fall for what he described as Gachagua’s latest political scheme.
“I urge the people to beware of this latest plot twist in Gachagua’s malignant influence. I remain steadfast and unwavering in discharging my duties, and when time allows, will join Wananchi in any part of the country in worship and other social activities as usual,” Murkomen concluded.
The exchange marks a new low in the deteriorating relationship between the two leaders, as political temperatures rise ahead of the 2027 General Election.
