Mourners Demand Justice at Memorial for Slain Kenyan Blogger Albert Ojwang

A somber mood filled Ridgeways Baptist Church as mourners gathered Tuesday to honor Albert Ojwang, a teacher and blogger whose recent killing has sparked national outrage, July 1, 2025.
Human rights activists, friends, and members of the public attended the memorial to pay their last respects. Emotional scenes unfolded inside and outside the church, with cries of grief echoing as family members clutched Ojwang’s coffin and comforted one another.
Former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi was among the attendees.
Uniformed police officers secured the church grounds and maintained order throughout the service. Church leaders expressed condolences and solidarity with Ojwang’s grieving family.
Before delivering the eulogy, the pastor urged the family and fellow Kenyans to remain resilient.
“We are praying for you. May the Lord give you strength and courage to go through this,” he said.
He also called on the public to support the family as they struggle to cope with Ojwang’s sudden death.
