Security apparatus in Mombasa County have assured locals and tourist of an adequate security during this festive seasons.
Mombasa Police Commander Stephen Matu said more officers have been deployed in the area to beef up security.
”I want to assure you that we have beefed up security in this county during this festive season,” noted Matu.
Speaking to the press, Matu said there will be a 24 hour patrol, a move to ensure all places that have witnessed insecurity issues in the recent past remain safe.
He said that the police department is working closely with county askaris and other security agents in a bid to maintain law and order.
”We are closely working with the county askaris in a bid to address the challenge of insecurity,” said the police commander.
His statement has been echoed by the Regional director of National Transport and Safety Authority Eva Nyawira.
Nyawira called on long distance truck and bus company owners to let their drivers have a break by having additional drivers on transit.
”I urge you to give your drivers a break, or you can also have additional drivers as you go on with your travels,” said Nyawira.
She said fatigued drivers can easily cause road accidents considering this season where there is a hike of travels to various parts of the country.
She further asked the drivers to observe traffic rules.
”Do not drive and drive. This will ensure that you do not cause road accidents,” Nyawira noted.
