Mohamed Salah seemed pretty close to losing it as he stepped out for what was basically his last time in the Liverpool FC spotlight on Sunday, bringing, well an end to that shiny nine year ride at Anfield you know.
The Egyptian frontman, often called the “Egyptian King” , now leaves Liverpool as the club’s third biggest scorer ever, 257 goals, and he also leaves behind a stack of major silverware plus those scenes fans will not forget.
Salah played 74 minutes in Liverpool’s 1-1 tie vs Brentford FC before he was swapped out for Jeremie Frimpong, and the crowd gave him this emotional welcome kind of moment, like you could hear it.
He didn’t find the net in the farewell game, but he still mattered, because he set up Curtis Jones for the equalizer and Liverpool then kept things on track to clinch a UEFA Champions League place for next season.
And across England too, a Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo added another one, his 17th Premier League strike of the campaign, for Manchester City FC even though they still fell 2-1 to Aston Villa FC.
Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo was also buzzing, scoring his 12th goal of the season as Manchester United FC beat Brighton 3-0.
In Spain, Moroccan winger Ez Abde closed out the campaign in style, he scored his 10th league goal in Real Betis’s 2-1 win over Levante.
Real Madrid CF also had a Moroccan moment, with Brahim Díaz getting on the scoresheet as they strolled to a 4-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Elsewhere, Angolan attacker Randy Nteka popped up late to deliver the decider for Rayo Vallecano in a 2-1 win over Alaves, and now they are heading toward the Conference League final against Crystal Palace.
Then in France, Senegal striker Abdallah Sima sealed it for RC Lens in the French Cup final, scoring the decisive goal in their 3-1 win over Nice.
