Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has joined the Christian fraternity in mourning the death of Bishop Joseph K. Likavo of the International Vision Centre (IVC) Church in Eldoret, placing him as a true servant of God, whose powerful influence radiated far beyond the altar into the homes of many families across the region.
Senator Mandago noted with grief that the passing of Bishop Likavo is a big blow, not only to the IVC Church but also to the entire body of Christ. He further stated that the life of the late bishop was one characterized by faithfulness, humility, and zeal to serve God and humanity.
The senator praised Bishop Likavo for his pastoral leadership characterized by kindness and commitment toward all in his ministry. He noted that under his leadership, the IVC Church had become a strong community of faith nurturing believers spiritually while addressing certain social and moral concerns affecting society. According to Mandago, Bishop Likavo’s pastoral ministry changed lives and gave hope to many seeking guidance, prayer, and mentorship.
“Bishop Joseph K. Likavo exemplified faithful service,” Senator Mandago stated. “His ministry was anchored on love, humility and obedience to God, and through this he touched countless lives. His contribution in growing the spirit of many families and individuals will be etched in their memories for eternity.”
Senator Mandago sent his condolence messages to the grieving family led by Pastor Dan, Mama Janet, Joy, Maureen, and the entire Likavo family, as well as the congregants of IVC Church. In his message of comfort to them during this tough time, he assured them of being with them and encouraged them to take heart from their mutual faith.
He prayed for comfort to come and asked God to give the family and church members peace and strength as they try to come to terms with the loss. The senator opined that the loss of a spiritual leader always creates a huge gap, but he reminded the faithful that God will always be an anchor of comfort and hope in their moments of grief.
In describing Bishop Likavo’s legacy, Senator Mandago observed that although Bishop Likavo is physically gone, his teachings, values, and example of service shall inspire generations to come. He termed the life of the bishop as one that stood the test of perseverance and commitment, motivated by a clear purpose.
“Even in death, Bishop Likavo’s legacy lives on,” says Mandago. “We find consolation in believing that he faithfully completed his journey here on earth and has been rewarded with eternity.”
The senator urged members of the Christian community and the general public to honour the bishop’s memory by practicing the principles he preached, such as unity, faith, and service to others. According to the senator, demonstrating these values would be the most significant honor to an individual who devoted his life to God and the welfare of his people.
