TOHARA KATIKA JAMII YA MAASAI NCHINI KENYA
This radio documentary delves into a significant cultural practice within Kajiado County. Within the Maasai community, young boys aged between 14 and 18 undergo a traditional circumcision ritual to transition into Moran warriors. Following this initiation, these youths spend 30 days secluded in the forest, a period of profound significance in their cultural journey.
Kipkirui Kelvin, a journalism student from Kibabii University currently stationed at the Eldoret Media Hub, embarked on a journey to Namanga in Kajiado County. There, he engaged with a group of Moran warriors, delving into their perspectives and experiences surrounding this age-old rite of passage.
