Main Streets to be partially closed as Kisumu City readies for Christmas and new year street Bash

A number of streets within the Kisumu central business district, will remain closed, to allow for a massive chrstmass and new year party
The two main streets including the Oginga odinga street and the Jommo Kenyatta highway, will be partially closed to allow for the end year party planned by the city of kisumu and other partners
Kisumu city manager, Mr Abala Wanga has announced that the partial closure of the roads will allow traders within the CBD to continue with their business as usual, whereas revelers will have their day along the very streets
‘The street festival will include a number of events and activities including, sports and culutural shows, meant to bring kiusmu people and our visitors together in our own kisumu way” Said the manager
The end year event is a weeklong blend of festival meant for kisumu people , and a tradition it shall be held right on the streets , to allow the local enjoy
Different days will have different activities, where the Christmas tree lightning, is scheduled to be graced by wife to former Prime Minister and Azimio Leader raila Odinga, mama Idda Odinga and entertainment overnight
Other plans scheduled within the week, include the kids festivals and an interdenominational prayer, street kids feeding, join interdenominational prayers , within the central square and the Sports ground
For the first time ever the visitors will experience a unique competition where, there shall be beer competition, which has been planned in partnership with other companies
In terms of security te organizing committee has assured residents of a 24 hour log security plan, and patrols involving the police service personnel and the city’s enforcement department officers
The icing on the cake shall be the planned luo night , where various artists are expected to perform, as different exhibitors will showcase traditional foods , and cultural artifacts
Football and other sports competitions are scheduled to take place at the revamped Jaramogi Oginga Odinga sports and heroes complex
