Construction of the Maili Nne-Kapsiliboi-Kapkeben Road is progressing as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and access to essential services in parts of Uasin Gishu County.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim said the project is expected to strengthen the local road network and improve movement between several communities along the route.
The road links Maili Nne Business Centre, Kapsiliboi, Kapkeben and Kiplombe, areas that rely on the road for transport, trade and access to public services.
Bii said the terrain in the area has influenced the construction approach, with the road being developed as a rigid pavement to enhance its durability.
He said earthworks are ongoing, with dozing already undertaken as contractors continue with other major works. Four rounds of blasting have also been completed to clear sections of the hilly terrain and facilitate construction.
The governor said the completed road will provide a more reliable transport link for residents and businesses along the corridor.
The project is also expected to improve access to markets and essential services while easing movement of people and goods between the connected centres.
The construction forms part of ongoing road improvement efforts in Uasin Gishu, where county authorities have been investing in urban and rural infrastructure to improve connectivity.
Bii said improved roads remain important in supporting economic activity and linking communities to markets, health facilities, schools and other services.
The Maili Nne-Kapsiliboi-Kapkeben-Kiplombe corridor serves communities within an area characterised by hilly terrain, making construction works more demanding than on relatively flat sections.
County officials are expected to continue monitoring the project as construction progresses toward completion.
