This documentary explores the rich mourning traditions of Kenya’s Luo community, examining how cultural practices surrounding death continue to shape identity, unity, and remembrance. Through interviews with residents of Kachieng village, the feature highlights the three key stages of Luo funeral rites—Kelo Ywak (announcement of death), Anyuola (funeral preparations), and Iko (burial).

The documentary also explores significant customs such as Jowi, Tero Buru, and Kanyakla, which honor the deceased while strengthening community bonds. As Christianity and modern influences reshape traditional practices, the story reveals how the Luo community continues to preserve its cultural heritage while adapting to contemporary life.
