Murang’a County leaders requested that politicians and citizens remain peaceful and responsible during the upcoming election period as Maragua Constituency provided educational funding to assist students from low-income families.

The Kambiti Ward 2026 National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursary program launch brought Maragua MP Mary Wamaua and other officials to emphasize that political candidates must conduct their campaigns in a peaceful and respectful manner. The group proceeded to issue a warning against the usage of divisive wording and hate speech and propaganda which would develop tensions throughout communities.

Leaders established that political contests must center on policies and development plans and service delivery operations instead of personal attacks which would divide citizens into opposing political or social groups. The group maintained that political differences must not disrupt the existing social bonds which connect all residents together.

MP Wamaua emphasized that election periods require people to stay at peace because elections determine national leadership but should not separate people from their community ties. The competition should maintain respectful behavior according to her request while leaders should focus on projects which enhance living conditions and avoid creating new disputes.

The legislator expressed her concern about the increasing number of political conflicts which now invade religious environments. The warning she delivered to politicians proved effective because she explained that churches and other worship areas should function as battlegrounds for political conflicts. Wamaua stated that these areas exist to create unity through spiritual connections, thus they require protection as sacred zones which should not experience political disputes.

The MP reaffirmed government support for education by stating that education functions as a fundamental method which enables students to achieve equal opportunities. The Maragua Constituency has allocated more than Sh57 million in funding to provide bursary assistance for vulnerable students who face economic hardships. The financial aid program will help families by lessening their expenses while it supports student attendance at school.

Wamaua requested parents to follow the government plan which aims to achieve full primary to secondary school transition by observing their children’s school attendance. She said that maintaining student classroom attendance would protect their future while building up the entire community.

Githumu Assistant County Commissioner Purity Mengich delivered the peace message during the period when political activities increased in Kandara. She encouraged residents to stay peaceful and work together during the political period.

Mengich required eligible youth to obtain their national identity cards because they need the document for public service access and national program participation. She requested parents and guardians to engage in active participation in their children’s upbringing and school activities as stable families and communities create conditions for peace and development.
