Laikipia County residents now find accessing government services significantly more convenient, as the county government officially moved its headquarters from Nanyuki to Rumuruti.

Rumuruti, situated approximately 40 kilometers due north of Nyahururu on the Nyahururu-Maralal road, is a town in Laikipia County. Despite being smaller than Nanyuki or Nyahururu, its central location led to its selection as the administrative headquarters of the new County government in 2013.
Known for its rich culture, diverse landscapes, and growing economy, Rumuruti is an ideal destination for prospective land investors.

Governor Joshua Irungu, speaking at the official opening of the new headquarters, emphasized the relief for residents who no longer need to travel extensive distances for government services.
The business community anticipates positive impacts from the relocation, foreseeing economic growth in Rumuruti as more government departments, businesses, and residents establish themselves in the town.
Rumuruti boasts diverse landscapes, including rolling hills, vast plains, acacia-dotted terrain, and rocky outcrops. The Laikipia Plateau, home to significant wildlife populations such as elephants, lions, and rhinos, contributes to the town’s appeal.
With a climate characterized by hot days and cool nights, Rumuruti becomes an attractive destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Activities like hiking, bird watching, game drives, and cultural tours offer exploration of the region’s rich Maasai heritage.
