Kitui County Assembly Member Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi has been arrested over allegations of stealing mobile phone accessories worth an estimated Ksh.1.9 million.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the parcel, intended for delivery to a client in Mombasa, went missing on February 8, 2025.

The package was under the care of Buscar Courier Services, a logistics company located along River Road in Nairobi. Security footage reportedly captured Musyoka leaving the premises with the item in question.

Despite being an elected official, Musyoka allegedly concealed his identity when engaging with the courier service. His involvement came to light when he returned to Buscar’s office, where security personnel recognised him. Upon verification, he was handed over to police officers at Central Police Station in Nairobi.

Following his arrest, the MCA was transferred to Mombasa, where detectives are conducting further investigations into the matter. Law enforcement authorities continue to gather evidence to build a strong case against him, and legal proceedings will ultimately determine his fate.

As news of Musyoka’s alleged involvement spreads, reactions among constituents and political figures in Kitui County remain varied. While some express shock over the accusations, others await the judicial process to determine the truth.

The Kitui County Assembly has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or the potential implications for the MCA’s political career.

Legal experts suggest that if convicted, Musyoka could face serious repercussions, including removal from office. The case has sparked discussions on accountability among public officials and the importance of upholding ethical standards while in office.

Investigations are ongoing, and further developments in the case will determine what actions will be taken. Authorities urge the public to remain patient as the judicial system handles the matter in accordance with the law.
