Kisumu Set to Host 2024 East Africa Poetic Hour Battle: Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Economic Empowerment Through Poetry

Poets from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, and Tanzania will converge in Kisumu to showcase their talents

The lake side city of Kisumu is once again getting ready to host a regional competition , that bring on board the best  poets from various  countries in East frica

The Talent Industry Limited is set to organize the 2024 East Africa Poetic Hour Battle on May 25th in the lakeside city of Kisumu.

Godfrey Emoja, the Managing Director of Talent Industry Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event. Citing that it would be much bigger and better that previous competition

Emoja said the hosting of this year’s East African Poetic Battle is anchored  on the tremendous success of last year’s edition and the continuous support of poetry enthusiasts from Kisumu City, Kenya and  beyond.

Under the theme “Capitalizing On Creativity: Unlocking Economic Opportunities through Poetic Expression,” the event aims to harness the power of poetry to spark conversations on cultural heritage and economic empowerment.

Poets from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, and Tanzania will converge in Kisumu to showcase their talents and compete for the title of East Africa’s Poetic Giant.

Emoja. in a press statement , extended a warm invitation to creative, strategic partners, and the community at large to join in and witness the incredible talents of the East African region.

The director  added that , ahead of the duel scheduled for   25th of May, the organizing team is set to organize a series of workshops in various countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania  and Nairobi to help sensitive potential participants

Kisumu County’s  Chief excecutive committee member for Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs Beatrice Odongo invited the vast neighboring East African countries to Lake City once again for this exceptional event.

Odongo says Kisumu is ready for the event noting that it demonstrates continuous commitment to supporting and celebrating the talent of the youth.

She said that the intertwined connection between culture and poetry profoundly impacts the lives of the young people.

Odongo said that the administration of Governor Anyang Nyong’o is dedicated to supporting creativity, preserving heritage, and empowering the younger generation through their diverse talents.
