Kipchoge stadium to be ready in August !

Governor Jonathan Bii says his government is deploying engineers and technical personnel for monitoring and supervision to keep the contractor on toes.

The construction works of Eldoret’s Kipchoge Keino Stadium will be complete by mid August this year.

The Ministry of Sports and the County Government of Uasin Gishu are working to ensure the works are complete before the Devolution Conference set for August 15-19 in Eldoret.

Governor Jonathan Bii says his government is deploying engineers and technical personnel for monitoring and supervision to keep the contractor on toes.

“Sports is our identity and we shall work to ensure that this stadium is completed as a fete for our gallant athletes,” said Bii.

The Governor says his government will work closely with the Ministry of Sports, for the works to be done by August.

Principal Secretary for Sports, Eng Peter Tum, says the ministry in close partnership with the county government of Uasin Gishu, to ensure that the timelines are met.

“We are deliberate that the works will be complete before the devolution conference,” said Eng Tum in Eldoret on Saturday.

“We shall work with the Ministry so that incase there is anything needed and can be provided by the county government, we can avail to ensure success,” said Deputy Governor Eng John Barorot.

County Executive for Youth and Sports, Eng Lucy Ng’endo and Chief Officer Nahum Jelagat, say the Governor’s directive for regular monitoring will be undertaken to ensure the facility is complete.

Already, the surrounding terraces are done with the ongoing works being the main pavillion. The contractor says the works will be done within schedule.

The stadium is named after Kenya’s first athlete to win an Olympic gold medal, Kipchoge Keino.
