Representatives from Kenya Federation of American Football (KFAF) officials joined a comprehensive capacity-building workshop on Thursday conducted by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK). The workshop brought together participants from different upcoming and developing Olympic sports federations with an objective to enhance leadership, governance, and organizational management of Kenya’s sporting community.
The training centered on upholding the knowledge of the Olympic Movement and sharing best practices in sport administration. Key areas of emphasis included Athletes at the Heart of the Movement, The Games, and Principles of Structure and Leadership in the Olympic Movement. Participants gained deeper insights through these sessions into how successful leadership and structured can make sports organizations level up to international standards.
KFAF observed that the training was timely and instrumental in equipping federation officials with pertinent tools to improve effectiveness and responsibility. The federation further stated that interaction with such initiatives would go a considerable way towards ensuring American football continued to grow steadily and sustainably in Kenya.
This workshop gave us an excellent opportunity to build our administrative capacity and internationalize our systems,” KFAF stated in a release. “It reaffirmed our dedication to building American football in Kenya through professionalism, inclusivity, and leadership.
The federation also praised NOCK for consistently encouraging new sports and creating opportunities for federations to build strong management systems. In the view of KFAF, these efforts are critical in nurturing a new generation of talented and innovative sports managers who will be capable of leading change across disciplines.
The KFAF delegation was composed of the Vice President Ondeng, Secretary General Shisoka, Treasurer Muchiti, and Female Athletes Representative Bridgit Kamamia, all representatives of the federation for the training. Their attendance also indicated KFAF’s dedication to continuous learning and capacity building as part of its overall vision to ensure American football as a competitive and recognized sport in both local and international levels.
As the sport gains momentum in Kenya, KFAF is committed to working with such partners as NOCK to strengthen institutions, promote athlete welfare, and open more opportunities for youth engagement. The federation emphasized that all these are critical elements in setting the stage for Kenya to emerge as a future power in American football and in promoting the Olympic values of solidarity, honesty, and excellence in all sporting codes.
