Kevin De Bruyne Bids Emotional Farewell to Man City Amid Haaland Tribute

Manchester City’s midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne appears to be closing a historic chapter with the club, as tributes and emotions poured in, led by none other than goal-scoring sensation Erling Haaland.
In a heartfelt message that stirred the football world, Haaland thanked De Bruyne for his incredible impact on and off the pitch.
“First of all, thank you so much for all the great assists you’ve given me, the great moments we’ve had together, winning the UCL, the Premier League, and everything you’ve done for this club—we all really appreciate it,” said Haaland.
Haaland, who has thrived under De Bruyne’s playmaking brilliance since joining City, added: “I’m so happy to have played with you for an amazing three years. I wish you, of course, all the best in the future. Before I came, I watched you so much and looked forward to playing with you—then did it, and it was amazing. We, City fans, love you.”
The Belgian midfield genius, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever, has spent nearly a decade at Manchester City, collecting multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, League Cups, and most memorably, the UEFA Champions League title in 2023.
Beyond football, De Bruyne shared an emotional moment reflecting on his children’s surprise farewell video. “They did really well. I’m actually quite surprised because I don’t know what they all think in their head, but to have a full stadium around you with all the lights and everything—I think they handled it really, really well,” De Bruyne said proudly. “It’s not easy for them with everything that they’ve been through. But like I said, they’ve handled it really well. I’m a proud dad.”
Though Manchester City has yet to formally announce De Bruyne’s departure, the tone of the tributes suggests a farewell is imminent.
