Kenya has welcomed the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) decision to establish its first African office in Nairobi, a move expected to boost investment in micro, small and medium enterprises and expand public-private partnerships, government officials said Monday, June 30.
President William Ruto met with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. The two leaders discussed a framework for deepening cooperation across sectors.
“We value our growing partnership with the EBRD,” Ruto said. “This is a strategic move that will enhance economic development.”
The talks included agreements on support for climate financing, promotion of green investments, and plans to hold an investor conference in Nairobi later this year.
