The Chairman of the Kenya Seed Company, Hon. Wangui Ngirici, has asserted that strategic partnerships, joint vision, and convincing leadership are some of the key dynamics that shape the future of Kenya’s agriculture and agribusiness sectors toward sustainable development. She said this during the recognition ceremony hosted by Star Brands East Africa, an event that recognizes outstanding professionals and organizations that excel in their respective fields.

Reflecting on her journey from political to technocratic leadership, Hon. Ngirici noted that meaningful progress, irrespective of position or industry, is anchored in teamwork and collective responsibility. She emphasized that it is not possible for leadership to function in isolation, and that successful institutions are a function of cooperation, mutual respect, and a sense of shared objectives.

“Whether it’s political, business, or technical, true leadership is about people. It demands clarity, discipline, and strong partnerships. No kind of progress can be sustained without working together,” she said.

Hon. Ngirici commended Star Brands East Africa for hosting what she termed a highly influential and well-organized event. According to her, the platform not only acknowledges excellence but also enhances visibility for the brands, builds trust among consumers, and improves competitiveness within the marketplace. She noted that such initiatives motivate organizations to raise their standards while simultaneously boosting the overall credibility of local products.

“This event plays a very critical role in driving branding and market engagement; already gaining momentum, and I am confident that it can develop into a national platform that showcases products proudly made in Kenya, consumed locally, and sold globally,” she observed.

The Chairperson reiterated the commitment of Kenya Seed Company to championing research, innovation, and quality seed production to support farmers across the country. She noted that its long-standing mandate is to contribute to food security, help farmers increase productivity, and propel Kenya’s agricultural transformation in line with national development goals.

The future of agribusiness in Kenya, Hon. Ngirici also noted, rests on deepening collaboration between government departments, private sector players, research institutions, and farmers. Pooling such resources and expertise, she indicated, will go a long way toward scaling up the country’s production and enhancing value addition to attain competitiveness in both regional and international markets. The event concluded with renewed calls for sustained collaboration and multi-sector engagement, as speakers emphasized that Kenya’s economic growth-and with it, the global success of Kenyan products-depends on how industries can collaborate in the interest of nurturing local talent, fostering innovation, and maintaining quality standards.
