President William Ruto has commended the strides made in Kenya’s education sector, attributing the improvements to curriculum reforms, enhanced teacher recruitment, and better equipping of schools with learning materials and facilities.

In a statement shared on his verified social media accounts, the President highlighted the tangible benefits of these initiatives, including improved academic performance and increased school enrollment rates, particularly among girls.

“We are glad that our education system keeps improving as we enrich the curriculum, hire more teachers, and equip our schools with more learning materials and facilities,” the President remarked. He also noted that these efforts are bearing fruit, as schools across the country continue to register better outcomes year after year.

The statement came as President Ruto received a briefing at State House, Nairobi, on the much-anticipated release of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.

The results, which are expected to be announced later today, mark a significant milestone in the academic journey of thousands of students nationwide.

One of the notable achievements highlighted by the President is the increased enrollment and retention of girls in schools.

This progress reflects a broader commitment by the government to address gender disparities in education and ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality learning opportunities.

Education stakeholders have lauded the government’s efforts in implementing key reforms such as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and increasing the number of teachers in public schools.

These measures aim to enhance the quality of education and better prepare students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving job market.

The government’s investment in modernizing school facilities, distributing digital learning devices, and expanding access to secondary education has also been instrumental in driving these improvements.

However, challenges such as overcrowded classrooms and disparities between urban and rural schools remain, calling for continued efforts to bridge the gaps.

As the 2024 KCSE results are unveiled, attention will shift to the performance trends and how they align with the government’s broader goals for the education sector.

President Ruto’s administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every Kenyan child receives a quality education, paving the way for a skilled and prosperous future generation.

The release of the results is expected to set the tone for further reforms and investments in Kenya’s education system as the government seeks to solidify these gains and address lingering challenges.
