Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua, leaders of the United Opposition, are starting a campaign tour in Makueni and Mombasa counties on Friday, June 6, 2025. The tour, which will last for two days, will begin at 10:00 AM.
They will visit different towns in both counties to meet the residents. On Friday, they will be in Makueni, stopping at places like Malili, Sultan Hamud, Emali, Makindu Town, Kibwezi, and Kinyambu-Kambu/Machinery.
On Saturday, the tour will continue in Mombasa, with visits to Voi, Maungu/Taru, Mazeras, Mariakani, and Kisauni.
Kalonzo shared the details of the tour through his social media accounts, calling it a “whistle-stop” campaign. He urged Kenyans to come together for the country’s future.
The event will also include other well-known political figures such as Peter Munya, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Mithika Linturi, among others.
This tour is especially important for Gachagua because it will be his first visit to Kibwezi West, a constituency that played a role in his removal from office as Deputy President.
His visit to this area is seen as a challenge to President William Ruto and part of the growing opposition movement against him.
The campaign tour follows a key meeting that Kalonzo hosted on May 29, 2025, at his rural home in Tseikuru, Kitui County. This meeting brought together major opposition leaders, including Gachagua, to discuss strategies for the 2027 elections.
The opposition is now focused on gaining more support and strengthening its position in preparation for the upcoming general election.
Overall, the tour is not just about reaching out to voters, but also about sending a strong message of unity and resistance against Ruto’s leadership.
Kalonzo and Gachagua are positioning themselves as important figures in the opposition, and this tour is an important step in that direction. It will be interesting to see how it impacts the political scene in the coming months.
