Husband found hanging after wife’s murder in Kirinyaga

A 41-year-old man was found dead, hanging from a rope, after killing his wife in Gikumbo village, Kirinyaga County.
Police said they are investigating the murder and suicide.
The motive remains unknown.
According to police, the bodies of the man and woman were found in their house.
The body of Edith Muringu Mureithi, 38, was found lying on a bed with a cut wound on the left ear and a deep cut on the neck. Her husband, James Munene Muchiri, 41, was hanging from a rope tied to a roof truss with no visible injuries.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene and kept as evidence.
Police moved the bodies to the mortuary pending postmortem.
Police say murder-suicide cases are rising, often linked to domestic disputes.
Woman stabbed in Kisumu robbery, suspect killed by mob
Meanwhile, police in Kondele, Kisumu County, are investigating the death of a woman stabbed in the neck during a robbery.
The woman, identified as Mercy Muthoni, was at her shop when she was attacked.
A mob confronted the suspected assailant and stoned him to death.
Police said a kitchen knife was found at the scene. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
Police linked the stabbing to an attempted robbery gone wrong.
Mob kills man accused of theft in Naivasha
Elsewhere in Ndabibi, Naivasha, a 30-year-old man was killed in an assault by people known to him.
The body was found in a maize plantation. Police said the man was attacked by a mob on suspicion of theft at a private residence.
He had a deep head cut, a stab wound on the right hand, a fractured right thumb, a broken rib, and leg injuries.
Police have raised concerns over rising cases of mob lynching, urging the public to hand over suspects to authorities.
Some mob victims have later been found to be innocent or framed.
