Governor Jonathan Bii Nominates Tembelio MCA Evans Kapkea as Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Following John Barorot’s Resignation

Mr. Kapkea holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry with Computing from the University of Eldoret

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has nominated Tembelio Ward MCA, Evans Kipruto Kapkea, for the position of Deputy Governor. This nomination follows the resignation of former Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot, who stepped down on Monday after accepting an opportunity to work for an international ICT firm. Exercising the authority granted under Section 32D (1)(a) of the County Government Act, 2012, His Excellency Governor Bii, on August 21, 2024, forwarded Mr. Kapkea’s name to the County Assembly for vetting and consideration.

Mr. Kapkea holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry with Computing from the University of Eldoret and is currently pursuing an MSc in Analytical Chemistry at Moi University. He is an alumnus of Lelboinet Boys High School and Kipleketet Primary School in Tembelio.

In his current role, Mr. Kapkea represents Tembelio Ward in Moiben Sub County as a Member of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly. He serves as the Chairperson of the Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, and Investment Committee and is also a member of the Budget, Finance & Appropriation Committee, Health Committee, and Delegated Legislation Committee.

Previously, Mr. Kapkea served as the Board of Management Chairperson and Chairperson of the Parents Association at Tembelio Secondary School from 2016 to 2022, where he oversaw significant academic and infrastructural improvements. Mr. Kapkea is married and a father of two.
