The war of words between former Olympic champion Vivian Cheruiyot and
retired international marathoner Abraham Chelang’a has today taken a
new twist after the former demanded an apology from her or meet in
court.
Speaking to the media in Eldoret, Chelang’a has told embattled
Cheruiyot to tender an apology to him over remarks attributed to her
where she claimed that he is to blame for her troubled marriage.
“I am giving her 24 hours within which to apologize to me over her
remarks to the effect that I have been rocking her marriage by leading
astray her husband cum coach, Moses Kiplagat.
This happened during a confrontation that ensued between Cheruiyot and
Chelang’a during the World Cross-country Tour Showpiece in Lobo
village on February 4 in Uasin Gishu County.

She claimed that Chelang’a has been aiding her estranged husband in
sampling young women
a behavior she says is shaking her marriage.
Cheruiyot further alleged that Chelang’a and her husband have for a
long time been spending money from her business and most of them
managed by her husband on women.
The former World champion and Chalang’a a former long distance athlete
have since been summoned to Kapsaret sub county DCI office where they
recorded their statements last week.
This happened as Cheruiyot continued to trade bitter words with
Chelang’a on one hand and her husband on the other with a glimpse into
their marriage showing that they had a troubled union in recent years.
However, Chelang’a said that he has never spent any money from Vivian
Cheruiyot as she alleges, saying he has enough money which he earned
from local and international races when he used to run during his
active life in athletics.
“I made enough during my calling in international races where I took
part in long distance races and won big money in the US, Spain, Dubai,
South Africa, Beijing among other countries.
He defended his closeness to Cheruiyot’s husband, Kiplagat terming him
as a long time good friend saying that at no time has he ever
interfered in their marriage life as alleged by her.
