The anticipation for tomorrow’s planned protests by Generation Z is mounting, following the countrywide demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024. Social media is abuzz with youth expressing their views on what might transpire tomorrow.

A letter from the Kenya Liberation Movement, circulating online and addressing President Ruto, calls for his resignation. A section of the letter reads, “Despot Ruto, we, the people of Kenya, as your employer, have been loud and clear that you ‘Ruto Must Go.’ We, the sovereign people of Kenya, are DEMANDING to constitutionally take back our sovereign power delegated to you and the Kenya Kwanza Administration within 24 hours from now.”

The letter has sparked numerous comments, particularly where it states, “WE THE PEOPLE OF KENYA DON’T FEAR YOU, Hatukuogopi! If you don’t resign within the 24 hours, we the people of Kenya are coming to CONSTITUTIONALLY take back the power that we delegated to you, and there is nothing you can do. You kill us, we all die.” Many have echoed this sentiment, with some commenting, “Better to die free than to live under the boots of William Ruto,” and others stating, “Thursday is a good day to die.”

Dr. Miguna Miguna, a prominent activist, has also weighed in on social media, encouraging the youth to turn out in greater numbers for tomorrow’s protests. On his X account, he wrote, “Patriots, comrades, Gen-Zs, and Millennials, make Thursday, June 27th, 1000 times BIGGER than this. Vivaaa!”
