Bungoma deputy Governor, Jenepher Mbatiany today launched sixteen days of activism against gender based violence cases, expected to run until the 10th of December.
The day is celebrated across the world with this year’s theme being: “togetherness”, with the aim of sensitizing people on the importance of preventing the increased cases of gender violence especially targeted against women.

“Our County is among the counties that continue to record rising cases of GBV, we unite with the rest of the world to say No to gender violence, as a county we will work with like-minded organizations and individuals to sensitize our people against gender related violence,”She Noted
The deputy governor has asked Bungoma residents to support women together with groups that champion for rights of women and young girls who are most vulnerable to most forms of Gender Violence that hinder them from realizing their dreams
Mbatiany assured residents that Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka remains committed to ending all forms of gender based violence in the county and more sexual violence which is the most pervasive form of gender violence
Bungoma County was leading in the third position out of 47 counties in Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) cases many of which were highlighted by the local and national media houses, on radio, television and in newspapers.
The cases were not only shocking, sad and traumatic, but very strange as they involved minors, teenagers, young adults and even elders who were referred to by the victims as their uncles, fathers and grandfathers.
