Eliud Kipchoge, Kenya’s world-renowned marathon icon, has rolled out an ambitious new venture called the “Eliud Kipchoge World Tour,” which will see him run marathons across all seven continents over the next two years.
The announcement came shortly after the 40-year-old completed the 2025 New York City Marathon, where he finished 17th with a time of 2:14:36. This race could be the closing of his professional competitive career for Kipchoge. It was also his maiden appearance on the grueling New York course, with steep inclines and sharp turns. This year was an especially busy one for the marathon legend, competing in three major marathons-a rare move even for him. Earlier this year, in August, he ran the Sydney Marathon, finishing ninth with a time of 2:08:31.
While the results may not accurately reflect his past, Kipchoge emphasized that his latest mission isn’t about medals or personal bests but is all about legacy, inspiration, and global connectivity.
“Seven marathons on seven continents-together with all of you,” Kipchoge said on his official Facebook page. “With this World Tour, I want to compete for records and for people. I want to inspire, give back, and remind everyone that no human is limited-anywhere in the world.”

Kipchoge’s announcement symbolizes the evolution of an extraordinary career that has transformed modern marathon running. Since his marathon debut in 2013, he has secured 11 victories in his first 12 races, adding Berlin, London, Chicago, and Tokyo titles and setting multiple course records along the way.
Perhaps the most memorable moment of his career took place in 2019, when he became the first person to break the two-hour barrier in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, an event that redefined the limits of human endurance and established him as the greatest marathoner the world has ever witnessed. Although his performance in New York may have hinted at the sunset of his elite competitive career, Kipchoge’s World Tour marks a new beginning-one of unity, inspiration, and a perpetual mantra that “No Human is Limited.” His journey now stretches beyond finish lines, seeking to bring runners and dreamers from each continent under one shared spirit of grit and purpose.
