Evans Makokha pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Barnabas Kiptoo.

Former Kenya County Government Workers Union ( KCGWU ) Uasin Gishu
county chapter Secretary has been charged at an Eldoret court for
working at a public health facility without a diploma certificate in a
medical laboratory from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and
Technologists Board.

Evans Makokha pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Eldoret
Senior Resident Magistrate Barnabas Kiptoo.

According to the charge sheet, on a diverse date between 1st March
2001 and 25th August 2020, at Pioneer Health Centre in Eldoret town,
Uasin Gishu County, Makokha acted as medical laboratory technologist
at the facility without registering with the KMLTTB.

The accused person was arrested on August 25, 2021 by a team of police
officers from the directorate of criminal investigations department at
the health centre while discharging his duties in the laboratory.

The sleuths who were accompanied by other officers from the Kenya
medical laboratory technicians and technologists board seized him as
other staff watched the unfolding drama in disbelief following a tip
off.

During the trial of the case, Naomi Arusei, the Clinical Officer in
charge of Uasin Gishu County government run-health centre, narrated to
the court events leading to the arrest of Makokha at the facility.
