The  Uasin Gishu County Government has  today  Closed  The  64  Champions  retail market  for  seven days  to allow  for  an extensive security  operation intended  to weed out  criminal elements  within the  market.

 

In   a Joint  Briefing with the  Uasin Gishu County Commissioner  Eddyson Nyale at  the  County headquarters , The  Uasin Gishu deputy Governor Eng.  John Barorot  has condemned  Thursday’s ugly  confrontation between traders , county askaris  and  the street  families that led to destruction  and  looting of  property within the  Central Business District,

“We  have  directed  traders at the Champions market  to  remove their perishable  goods in the market  for the next  seven days  , we  intend to sanitize  the market and Eldoret town  we  are  reliably  informed that  there  are  close  to  five criminal gangs along River  sosian  and we  have milord  upon the  Security officers  to immediately   get  rid of the criminal gangs m at the market  place we are  reliably  informed there  could be crude weapons that we  must deal with “Said  Barorot.

 

 

The Deputy county boss has assured traders and residents within Eldoret that the  Business  environment will be  protected from unnecessary street fights ,

 

 

“We are  assuring our  traders that as  we await the  conferment of  Eldoret to a city status ,we  will ensure  that Eldoret town continues to attract business people m County Askaris  who may have been involved in the illegal acts  while enforcing  county by laws they will also  be  dealt with in accordance  with the law” Said  Barorot

 

 

The County Commissioner Eddyson Nyale has assured residents that security will be beefed up within Eldoret and that criminal gangs will be eliminated,

“We will jointly work with the county government to bring back sanity within Eldoret market and the CBD, we  cannot allow criminal gangs  to take over town “Warned Nyale.

 

 

Close to 200 people have  been arrested in connection to the Thursday  demonstrations  and 19 of  them arraigned in Court Today.
