Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has called off religious leaders pressuring the President to have a dialogue meeting with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Uasin Gishu County after he flagged off food donations to areas affected by acute hunger Gachagua said that will not allow Raila to get into Government.
“The ‘Mzee of Maandamano’ has started his demonstrations again , church leaders are pushing us to have dialogue with him, we have said it not once or twice that this is not possible and it will not be possible” Opined The Deputy president.
“We cannot have dialogue with a criminal,Raila Is to blame for the demonstrations and destruction of property witnessed in the Country On Monday, We cannot dialogue even if we are pushed to do so by the church leaders, I advise them to pray for Him(Raila) so that he can repent”Added Gachagua.
Gachagua said Odinga is fond of selling fear to lawfully elected presidents having failed in the previous Elections.
“He sold fear to Moi in 1997, he did the same to Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta. The conversation we might have with Raila is to tell us when they will return the stolen money stashed abroad, but sitting down with a criminal for us to share with the government ,that won’t happen,” he affirmed .
“William Ruto is not a coward because he was brought up in a hard life not like the former president. I instead urge the church leaders to talk to Raila Odinga so that there will be peace since he is the cause of violence and political instability,” he added.
“They are now claiming Myself and the leader of majority Kimani Ichung’wa are the forces behind the hardlines that continue to hinder the president from having a dialogue with the opposition leader, they should stop creating divisions in the Kenya Kwanza Administration.
The clergy had on Wednesday asked Ruto and Raila to soften their hard lines and compromise for dialogue that can take the country forward.
