Uasin Gishu County residents of Segero-Barsombe and Ziwa Wards have praised Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s administration for the rapid rollout of transformative infrastructure projects that are enhancing safety, connectivity, and economic activity in the region.

On Thursday, Chief Officer for Roads, Transport, and Public Works Geoffrey Tanui led a county delegation to inspect ongoing and completed infrastructure developments.

Among them was the construction of the Ziwa Machine-Cheplelaibei Bridge, which connects Ziwa and Kipsomba Wards. The team also reviewed progress on the graveling of the Makongi Central Junction (Bakule)-Chepkoiyo Road in Segero-Barsombe Ward, located in Soy Sub-County.

Tanui later presided over the commissioning of newly constructed stalls at the Ziwa Machine Market, a development that marks a significant milestone for local traders.

Speaking during the visit, he reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that meets grassroots needs.

“These projects reflect Governor Bii’s pledge to prioritize community-driven development. Reliable infrastructure is the backbone of progress, and we are committed to delivering fully on our promises,” he said.

Residents welcomed the new bridge, citing its replacement of a decades-old structure that had posed serious safety concerns, especially for school-going children.

“For years, crossing the old bridge was a daily hazard. This new structure will save lives and finally connect us safely to hospitals, markets, and schools,” said Edna Cherop, a local resident.

The graveling of the Makongi-Chepkoiyo Road is also expected to ease transportation difficulties faced by farmers and traders, facilitating smoother movement of goods and services and ultimately boosting local commerce.

The launch of new market stalls at Ziwa Machine further reflects the county’s integrated development approach. Traders expressed gratitude for the modernized facilities, which they say will enhance hygiene, security, and attract more customers.

These projects are aligned with Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto, which emphasizes community participation in development planning.
