Britam Commits to the United Nations Global Compact

Britam has joined other world leaders in committing to the United Nations Global Compact, committing towards upholding and protecting human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption through its business practices.”
Britam has further recommitted to actively implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its business practices.
Britam Group Managing Director Tom Gitogo noted that these practices will continue to be promoted across all its businesses and to stakeholders including employees, customers, and other partners.

“The financial services sector is one of the biggest catalysts for accelerating the goal towards achieving both the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the SDGs. It supports improved economic well-being which then increases the ability of communities and Governments to improve social outcomes” Today’s signing reaffirms this,” said Ms. Judy Njino, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Kenya.
The Global Compact Network Kenya will provide technical guidance and support to Britam to deepen implementation of sustainability as guided by the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the advancement of the SDGs through training, provision of tools and resources and other support services.

Britam is among 15 leading companies in Kenya and among 56 other African companies that have signed the Africa Business Leaders’ Climate Statement to be presented at COP27 tomorrow in Egypt.

Britam will be required to submit an annual Communication on Progress (COP) report on gains made towards achieving the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
