Relatives of hers, who had also been searching for her since the time she went missing, identified her upon laying eyes on the body. The news has left the family shocked, having anticipated that they would find her alive.

Police officials on site captured the incident on tape and initiated an investigation to determine how the woman ended up in the river. The postmortem report will uncover vital information as to the actual cause of death, authorities said.

Residents of the Chemelil community were concerned about the increase in such incidents, asking local authorities and police officers to enforce more safety measures, especially near rivers and other water bodies.
