Bayern Munich director Max Eberl says he is fully convinced an agreement on a new deal with star midfielder Jamal Musiala is imminent.

In an interview, Eberl confirmed the discussions were on a good path and optimistic from both club and player’s point of view in reaching an agreement.

“We are in talks, something is happening here, and Jamal is noticing that too,” Eberl said, insinuating that the negotiations have advanced positively.

The club do see him as a central figure in Bayern’s future, and Eberl is of the opinion that there is little reason for the young talent to contemplate leaving the Bundesliga giants.

“He should become the face of Bayern, I’m optimistic. I don’t see why he should leave the club,” Eberl said, as he underlined how important the 21-year-old was for the club’s long-term plans.

Since joining Bayern Munich from Chelsea’s academy in 2019, Jamal Musiala has rapidly developed into one of the most exciting young talents in European football.

His capability to play almost anywhere across the attacking midfield positions has provided his versatility, coupled with his dribbling and traits in front of goal, that have made him such an important player for both Bayern and the German national team.

Since his senior debut in 2020, he has, arguably, been one of Bayern’s most indispensable players, playing consistently in both domestic and international competitions.

The German international’s contract at Allianz Arena currently runs until 2026, but Bayern Munich wants him to sign a longer-term deal to ward off interest from top European clubs.

With his performances drawing attention from clubs in the Premier League and La Liga, tying down Musiala has become a top priority for the Bavarian club.

Musiala’s rise has indeed been meteoric. He was Bayern’s second-top scorer in the Bundesliga in the 2022–23 season, netting 12 goals and providing 10 assists.

The fact that he can influence games from various attacking positions, and also is mature and composed enough for a man of his age, has made him a crowd-pleaser. With the kind of performances he has been putting up to this point in time, he is easily one of the most valuable young players in world football.

Reports suggest Bayern Munich will hand him an improved salary reflecting his stature as a key player, while the club is keen on making him one of the highest-paid players at Allianz Arena.

The confidence Bayern’s leadership has expressed to sell indicates determination not to leave any stone unturned in keeping Musiala at the heart of their project for many years.

With the player himself reportedly satisfied at the club, it may now seem likely that Bayern fans can count on having the young star in Munich for the foreseeable future.

This potential new deal will not only help secure the future of Bayern on the pitch but also lock in Musiala’s place as one of the faces of the club’s brand worldwide.
