The Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice (OAG & DOJ) has unveiled the list of shortlisted candidates set to proceed to the interview stage after a rigorous selection process for several positions advertised earlier this year.

A notice published in My Gov on Tuesday said that all 223 applicants will be called for an interview to be held from November 25 to December 4, 2025. The recruitment drive is in response to a job advertisement issued on May 6, 2025, for which the application window closed on May 16, 2025.

It said the call for applications resulted in an overwhelming number of 10,173 applications for the three categories of positions advertised, indicating that there was a high interest from job seekers across the country.

While announcing the recruitment process, Solicitor General Shadrack Mose reiterated that the department is committed to equity and inclusion, adding that the OAG & DOJ is an equal opportunity employer. “We are committed to achieving diversity and gender equality. Persons with disabilities, women, youth, and persons from marginalized communities are especially encouraged to apply,” Mose said.

Data from the department shows that the accountant II position was the most sought after, with 3,617 applicants competing for only 10 openings, from which 91 candidates have been shortlisted.

For the two positions available, the Public Communication Officer II role received 666 applications, with 19 candidates moving to the second stage.

Meanwhile, the Clerical Officer II position was the most applied for, with 5,890 applicants competing for 10 slots, out of which 113 were shortlisted.

Shortlisted applicants have been advised to visit the official website — www.statelaw.go.ke — to find complete interview schedules, including dates, locations, and requirements for documentation.

The OAG & DOJ has also called on members of the public to present any credible adverse information about any of the shortlisted candidates before November 25, 2025. “Any such information should be sent confidentially to the Office of the Attorney General at Sheria House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi,” the notice read.

The Attorney General’s office emphasized that the recruitment exercise will be based on the principles of transparency, integrity, and meritocracy in tandem with constitutional values which govern public service.

The Office of the Attorney General is the chief legal advisory body in Kenya, with its core role of ensuring the rule of law, constitutionalism, and access to justice are observed. The role developed above complements this mandate through spearheading legal policy and law reform and governance undertakings. This latest recruitment drive is part of the government’s overall strategy to build institutional capacities in the justice sector for increased efficiency, accountability, and better public service delivery throughout the country.
