A middle aged man was on Friday attacked by a mob justice at the Munyaka trading centre, Munyaka estate in Moiben Sub County after his failed attempt to steal a liter of cooking oil from a retail shop.
The Young man who was seriously attacked by Bodaboda operators after the owner of the retail shop raised the alarm was later whisked to safety by police officers.

Some on the Bystanders have however sympathized with the young man claiming the hard economic times are forcing many young unemployed youth to venture in crime,
“The Young man should be forgiven, probably he did not have enough money to buy the Cooking oil, many of the young men are unemployed and they are truly struggling with the hard economic times” Some of the bystanders were heard saying.
The Young man is being held at the Cyrus Police Post and will be charged with the offence of attempted theft.
The prices of basic food items continue to skyrocket with a litre of vegetable cooking oil retailing between ksh 350 and 410.
