Uasin Gishu County Forms Subcounty Committees to Assess Flood-Hit Schools
According to reports from the Kenya Red Cross North Rift region, areas such as Cheptiret, Ngeria, and Kimumu experienced flash floods.
The Uasin Gishu County Disaster Committee, led by the Governor and the County Commissioner, convened on Thursday to establish six Subcounty Disaster Committees tasked with assessing and devising an action plan for the state of public schools across the six sub-counties in the aftermath of severe rains and flash floods impacting various regions of the country.
These six sub-committees will comprise Public Works Officers, representatives from the National Police Service, Sub-county Directors of Education, members of the County Assembly, and County Government officials.
The committee noted that a number of public schools within the county bore the brunt of the floods, necessitating a comprehensive assessment to ensure the safety of students,remarked the Deputy Governor Eng.John Barorot.

Most schools resumed learning activities on Monday, and the Ministry of Education has been conducting assessments of affected schools nationwide to guarantee the safety of learners.
