The daily operations at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters were on Monday temporarily disrupted by an unusual event after Eldoret street connected youth dumped a body of a young male adult, Kelvin Otieno at the county main entrance protesting against County askaris’ brutality.
The Irate youth claim Kelvin was tortured mercilessly by the enforcement officers three days ago in what is suspected to have led to his untimely death today.

“He had been arrested by the enforcement officers and taken to the rescue center where his leg was broken and after escaping the centre now referred to as Eldoret “Shakahola” they followed him and beat him up and he died early today after complaining of massive body pains’ Said one of street urchins.

Eldoret based Human right activists have castigated Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii for abetting crimes and atrocities committed by the enforcement officers who are accused of profiling residents along ethnic lines.

“The Uasin Gishu director enforcement Cosmas Kerich who has an active criminal case at an Eldoret Court after he threatened to kill a magistrate has been accused of directing the atrocities, We want Governor Bii to explain why this man has not been interdicted pending the outcome of the case , why is the governor allowing for the profiling of communities along ethnic lines”Said Kimutai Kirui
The Human right activists have further pleaded with president Dr.William Ruto to order for sanity within his home county saying in order for Eldoret town to be conferred A City status , county enforcement officers should be drawn from the various communities .
An inquiry conducted by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights KNCHR late last year, established through medical documents and statements from at least 11 victims and witnesses that they were admitted at MTRH with various injuries as a result of assault , torture and excessive use of force of by the county enforcement officers.
The Commission further established that about 300 people were held incommunicado at the County social hall for more than 24 hours.

“The detention facility lacked basic amenities to support the critical needs of special interest groups such as children ,PWDS and the people with chronic diseases, the victims were not provided with food and water during the period” Said Dr.Benard Mogesa the Commission secretary and CEO.
Turbo Sub county deputy police commander Christopher Wesonga has confirmed investigations have commenced.
Huruma Ward Member of County of Assembly Kimani Wanjohi is nursing serious injuries after he was roughed up by enforcement officers while trying to address the irate youth.
