Two Suspects Arrested as Stolen KenGen Property Recovered

Police in Nairobi have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of property belonging to the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen).
Parklands detectives launched investigations after an HP laptop and an iPad were reported stolen from KenGen premises on September 14, 2026.
According to police, detectives pursued several leads as they sought to identify those behind the theft and recover the missing equipment.
The investigation led officers to Imara Daima, where they traced and arrested the first suspect.
Detectives reportedly recovered several items from his possession which they said could assist in establishing the circumstances surrounding the theft and identifying other people who may have been involved.
The investigation was subsequently extended to a second suspect. Police traced the individual and recovered an HP laptop believed to be part of the stolen property.
Detectives conducted a verification of the laptop’s serial number, which positively matched the serial number of the HP laptop reported stolen from the KenGen premises on September 14.
The recovery provided investigators with a direct link between the recovered equipment and the reported theft.
Police said the two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
Detectives are pursuing additional leads in an effort to recover the remaining stolen property, including the iPad, and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators are also expected to determine how the property was removed from the KenGen premises and whether other individuals were involved in the theft.
The arrests come as police continue to rely on tracking, identification and verification of stolen property to investigate cases involving valuable equipment.
The recovered laptop is expected to form part of the evidence as detectives build their case against the suspects.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the two suspects or provided details on whether they have been charged in court.
The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives working to establish the whereabouts of the remaining property and piece together the events surrounding the September 14 theft.
KenGen is one of Kenya’s key electricity generation companies, with power generation facilities forming part of the country’s national electricity supply system. The reported theft therefore comes as authorities continue to emphasise the protection of critical infrastructure and property belonging to public institutions.
