Construction of the long-awaited Kipchamba Stadium is set to begin after the successful completion of the final topographic inspection at the project site, marking a major milestone in the county’s sports infrastructure development agenda.

The crucial inspection was conducted by a team of officials from China Roads and Bridge Construction (CRBC), the company contracted to undertake the project, alongside County Government officials led by the Acting Chief Officer for Youth and Sports, Dr. Nelson Tore.

According to Dr. Tore, the exercise confirmed that all key preliminary technical assessments have been completed, clearing the final hurdle before the contractor moves to the site.

“The successful completion of the topographic inspection means the site is now ready for construction, and the contractor will immediately begin mobilizing equipment and personnel to the ground,” said Dr. Tore.

He noted that the county government is committed to ensuring the project is completed within the stipulated timelines and to the required standards, adding that the stadium will be a game-changer for youth and sports development in the region.

The inspection exercise was also attended by engineers and architects from the Ministry of Defence, who are overseeing the implementation of the project, as well as environmental assessors tasked with ensuring full compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Topographic inspections are a critical component of any major construction project. The exercise is conducted to establish the physical features, contours and terrain of a construction site, helping engineers and architects determine the most suitable design, drainage and layout before actual building works begin. Completion of this exercise signifies that the technical planning and survey phase has been finalized.

With the preparatory phase now complete, China Roads and Bridge Construction (CRBC) is expected to immediately mobilize heavy machinery, construction materials and personnel to the site ahead of the official groundbreaking and commencement of civil works.

Once completed, Kipchamba Stadium is expected to be a modern sporting facility that will provide a conducive environment for athletes to train, nurture local talent and host regional and national competitions. The facility is envisioned to have a standard playing field, athletics track and spectator stands among other amenities.

Beyond sports, the project is also anticipated to create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities for local youth during the construction phase, while boosting economic activities for businesses in the surrounding area.

County officials expressed optimism that the stadium will play a key role in promoting sports development, youth empowerment, talent monetization and community recreation, while contributing to the county’s broader infrastructure development agenda.

Residents have welcomed the development, saying they have waited for years for a modern stadium and are hopeful that its completion will open doors for young athletes who have lacked adequate training facilities.
