Mandago Rallies Rift Valley Behind Ruto, Warns Against ‘Politics of Incitement’

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed the Rift Valley’s support for President William Ruto, declaring that the region will not be swayed by leaders seeking to divide residents through what he termed as “politics of incitement.”
Speaking during a church service at ACK St. Stephen’s Chepkoilel in Uasin Gishu County attended by President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, senior clergy led by Bishop Christopher Ruto, and a host of political leaders from the Rift Valley, Mandago said the region remained firmly behind the Kenya Kwanza administration because of its development agenda.
Referring to President Ruto’s call for a national conversation, the senator said Kenyans should focus on the country’s future instead of divisive politics.
“Your Excellency, you have invited Kenyans to a national conversation. We have seen discussions on Vision 2060, taking Kenya into the future, and that is the conversation we should be having,” Mandago said.
While maintaining that every leader has the constitutional right to tour any part of the country, Mandago cautioned politicians against using such visits to foment divisions in the Rift Valley.
“We have absolutely no problem with any leader visiting any part of this country. But if you are coming to Nakuru or anywhere in the Rift Valley to incite our people, we want to tell you categorically that we shall never go back to where we came from,” he declared.
The senator said the region’s backing of President Ruto transcends regional considerations, arguing that it is anchored on the President’s vision and development record.
“We are saying two terms for you—not because you are a son of this county or the Rift Valley—but because of the vision and the transformation you have brought to this nation,” he said.
Mandago further praised President Ruto’s leadership on the international stage, saying Kenya had earned greater global recognition under his administration.
“You have made Africa proud by what you are doing in this country. That is why you were honoured as one of the first African presidents to attend the G7. We will continue to rally behind your government,” he said.
The senator also expressed gratitude to the President for entrusting him with leadership responsibilities in the Senate, saying he remained committed to supporting reforms aimed at improving service delivery.
Touching on healthcare, Mandago urged expectant mothers and health practitioners to avoid unnecessary Caesarean deliveries.
“Caesarean delivery should only be reserved for emergency cases. Where possible, mothers should be encouraged to deliver normally because the body has a natural mechanism of recovery. Do not risk your life unnecessarily,” he said.
The church service brought together political leaders, clergy and congregants from across the Rift Valley, with leaders using the occasion to reaffirm support for the government’s development agenda while calling for national unity and peaceful political engagement.
