Arsenal are preparing to intensify their pursuit of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers after making significant progress in discussions with the England international’s representatives, according to reports, as manager Mikel Arteta continues his efforts to strengthen a squad already regarded as one of Europe’s strongest.

The north London club is expected to remain active during the summer transfer window despite spending heavily in recent years, with Arsenal determined to build on a campaign that ended with the Premier League title and a place in the UEFA Champions League final. Club officials believe further investment is necessary if they are to maintain their domestic dominance while closing the gap on European heavyweights such as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Arteta is understood to have identified several priority positions ahead of the new season, with a creative midfielder and a left-sided attacker topping the club’s recruitment list. Rogers has emerged as one of Arsenal’s preferred targets because of his versatility, technical quality and ability to influence matches from several attacking positions.

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal have made substantial progress in talks with Rogers’ representatives and are now ready to submit an official offer in an attempt to persuade Aston Villa to negotiate over one of their most valuable assets.

Securing the midfielder’s signature, however, is expected to prove difficult because Villa have repeatedly insisted that Rogers is not available for transfer. The Midlands club is reportedly demanding well over £100 million before entering any discussions, while other reports suggest they would seek a fee closer to £130 million to sanction his departure.

Despite Villa’s public position, Arsenal reportedly believe there remains a realistic opportunity to complete a deal if negotiations develop positively. Chelsea are also monitoring Rogers’ situation, meaning Arsenal could face stiff competition if both clubs decide to formalize their interest later in the transfer window.

Rogers is currently away with England, while discussions regarding his future are understood to be taking place through his representatives rather than the player himself.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents since joining Aston Villa. His ability to carry the ball through midfield, create scoring opportunities and operate across multiple attacking positions has made him one of the league’s most sought-after players and attracted interest from several elite European clubs.

Former Liverpool midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp recently described Rogers as “one of the world’s best players,” reflecting the growing admiration for a footballer whose performances have continued to improve throughout the past season.

Villa manager Unai Emery has also made no secret of his admiration for Rogers, praising both his footballing ability and his professionalism after one of the midfielder’s standout displays earlier in the campaign.

“We need the numbers of the players and today and last week Morgan Rogers is performing fantastically,” Emery said.

“He is the protagonist. I’m so, so happy because he’s a fighter. He’s a very good guy. His commitment with Aston Villa is massive, and his attitude every day is really fantastic. When he’s getting numbers like today, of course we are very proud of everybody, but especially today with him.”

While Arsenal remain focused on Rogers, the club is also evaluating alternative options should Aston Villa refuse to negotiate or demand a fee beyond its valuation. Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola remains among the players admired by Arsenal’s recruitment department, although there is no indication that formal negotiations have begun.

Arsenal’s recruitment strategy this summer reflects Arteta’s determination to assemble a squad capable of competing consistently for the Premier League title while mounting another serious challenge in the Champions League. Whether the club decides to meet Aston Villa’s valuation for Rogers or turns its attention to other targets is expected to become one of the most closely watched stories of the transfer window.
